Star gazing -- all welcome

  When: Friday 16 November: 6-8pm
  How often: 16-18 November
  Cost: Free

Join the enthusiastic experts of West of London Astronomical Society (WOLAS) in star gazing

Where: Ruislip Lido Railway car park, Reservoir Road
Ruislip, Middlesex HA4 7TY

We will be holding public observing sessions at Ruislip Lido on Friday 16, Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 November 2018 between 6 pm and 8 pm each evening.

Admission is free, and all are welcome. Please bring your family and friends

The half Moon will be on view so you can study its craters as if you were flying over the surface!

We'll also be able to see the famous Seven Sisters star cluster, the Ring Nebula and maybe even the Andromeda Galaxy, 2.5 million light years away.

To help you know what telescopes are looking at we will place a white light under telescopes pointing at the Moon.

If weather permits looking at stars or galaxies operators will wear yellow or red armbands respectively.

Just remember when you change telescope to change colour as well!

Members of WOLAS will be on hand with a variety of telescopes and will be able to answer any questions you may have.

Don’t forget to wear warm clothing and bring a torch. Please switch it off when asked to.

To prevent dazzling observers please limit the brightness of your torch once past the tea room to your phone’s light or equivalent.

On nights when observing is possible the Turntable tea room will be open for refreshments, courtesy of the Lido Railway.

Toilets are also available.

In the event of poor weather the event will be cancelled, but please check the home page of this website on the night if you are unsure
