Inspired by Village People’s 1979 hit "In The Navy". That song was considered as part of a recruitment campaign for the US Navy.
I felt the army should have a song too...

IN THE ARMY
Do you find life boring
Spend all your time snoring
Fed up with the job you do?
Is your boss a right berk
Always making you work
Stopping smoking in the loo?
Does your mother cook food
In a way that’s so crude
That it’s best to go without?
And the Local’s lassie
Serves you beer that’s gassy
There’s a place for you no doubt
IN THE ARMY, you can march around for fun
IN THE ARMY, peel potatoes by the ton
IN THE ARMY, write letters home to Mum
IN THE ARMY, IN THE ARMY
IN THE ARMY, every day we all square bash
IN THE ARMY, every hour we spud bash
IN THE ARMY, how I pray for instant mash
IN THE ARMY, IN THE ARMY
If you want a new life
Away from your nagging wife
And your visits to the Nick
Those who’ve tried the navy
Will tell you it’s crazy
Only ending up sea sick
Are your friends all True Blue
Always standing by you
Making comments full of wit
Do drilling as a favour
Coaxed by Sergeant Majors
It’s a ruddy load of bull ... shine
