HAIR TODAY

“Who’s been eating my greens” demanded Terry, the bald hair stylist.

It was a normal mid-morning at Polly’s Hair Care. Plenty of chatter among the regulars, seated in their favourite chairs, while Terry wandered round teasing hair tresses. Little if any cutting going on, their locks remaining in place.

Every day for a week Terry had noticed elements of his packed lunch going missing. The tasty bits. His vegan cheese last Friday. Some shredded organic carrots yesterday. Today’s salad sandwich was now just naked bread. Not a happy bunny.

Polly wandered over. She was a kind employer, loved by everyone. And her pets were part and parcel of Polly’s Hair Care. Three rabbits. Three hungry rabbits, who enjoyed Terry’s lunches.

Brie Rabbit had nibbled the vegan cheese, Rabbit Burns scoffed the carrots, while Attila the Bun had not-so surreptitiously got stuck into the salad leaves. Green bits scattered over the floor, mixed with hair clippings of various colours, natural and otherwise.

Polly hugged Terry, her blonde tresses resting on his shoulder, then stood back with a wry smile.

“I’m sorry Mr T. My rabbits don’t stop eating, and your lunches are always varied and tasty. I’ve been a bit distracted too. There are five Polly Hair Salons in the area, and our customers are getting confused. Trying to think of something more distinctive”.

Terry pondered Polly’s blonde locks. “Your hair has a certain yellow tint. More like gold. Hey, here’s your new shop name. Goldie Locks and the 3 hares”
