Deafness can be isolating, demoralising and frustrating. You can feel lost in a group of people, even those you know well, as you cannot keep up with the conversation.

Do you find yourself smiling, laughing, nodding at the same time as everyone else, hoping you are doing the right thing at the right time? Even though you don’t know what you are smiling about as you didn’t hear what the person was saying?

Or do you have a friend or familiy member who has not yet acknowledged their deafness? If so, please understand it is a frightening thing they are experiencing but let them know they are not alone – we are here to support them
